How we research, write and review what you read here

Most insurance websites do not tell you where their information came from, who wrote it, or whether anyone qualified checked it. This page tells you all three — because you are being asked to make coverage decisions based on what we publish.

Who writes this content

Every substantive page on this site is written by Deon R. Williams, M.Jurs, REBC, CLCS, AIC, AINS — Founder and Principal Broker of 4J Insurance Agency.

That background matters to how the content reads. Before becoming a broker, Deon spent his career on the other side of the claim: first as a claims adjuster, then as a Special Investigations Unit investigator. Policies on this site are explained the way they are read when a claim is filed — not the way they are described when a policy is sold.

Single authorship here is deliberate, not a limitation. There is no content team, no ghostwriting agency, and no house byline standing in for a person. If a page carries the 4J name, one named, licensed broker wrote it and is accountable for it. Most agency websites cannot say that.

That is the boutique half of how 4J works. The other half is reach. 4J operates through Premier Group Insurance, a national aggregator partner, which is what puts a Frisco brokerage in front of the carrier panel, wholesale relationships and E&S markets a firm this size would not otherwise access. Clients get one broker who knows their file, and a national market behind him.

Who reviews it

Deon is also the technical reviewer. Every page carrying a byline has been read and approved by him for coverage accuracy before publication.

We say this plainly rather than inventing a review board, because a fabricated editorial hierarchy would be exactly the kind of unverifiable claim this page exists to avoid.

What review means here

That the coverage mechanics described are accurate as written; that any statute or form referenced says what we claim it says; and that nothing on the page could be read as a coverage guarantee.

How we choose what to write about

Topics come from three places, in this order:

  1. Questions clients actually ask during renewals, audits and claims — the ones that come up repeatedly and are answered badly elsewhere.
  2. Coverage gaps that surface at claim time — exclusions and endorsement questions that only become expensive after a loss.
  3. Regulatory and statutory change affecting Texas and Oklahoma commercial buyers.

We do not publish to fill a calendar, and we do not publish city pages or industry pages that differ only by the noun in the title.

Where our information comes from

We work down this hierarchy, and we prefer the highest available source:

  1. Actual policy forms and endorsements
  2. Statutes, regulations and government guidance
  3. Texas Department of Insurance and equivalent state agency publications
  4. Federal agency guidance (IRS, DOL, HHS, CISA)
  5. Standards organizations and rating bureaus
  6. Carrier underwriting and risk-control resources
  7. Professional associations
  8. Reputable technical publications

What we do not do: cite affiliate content or commercial listicles to support a technical coverage conclusion; represent industry guidance as though it were law; or bypass paywalls or access controls to obtain source material.

Where a conclusion is our professional reading rather than a settled matter, we say so on the page.

Dates and updates

Every substantive page shows a last-reviewed date. That date means a human read the page for accuracy on that date — not that the file was touched.

We review every substantive page at least annually, and sooner when the underlying law, form or regulation changes.

Our use of AI

We use AI tools to assist with drafting, structuring and editing content on this site. We disclose that because it is true, and because a policy page that quietly omitted it would undermine everything else on this page.

What AI is used for: first drafts, structural editing, formatting, and checking internal consistency.

What AI is never used for: deciding what a policy covers, interpreting a statute, or publishing without human review. Every coverage statement is verified by Deon against a primary source before it goes live.

AI assistance does not reduce the standard applied. It changes who does the typing, not who is accountable.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, we want to know — and we would rather hear it from you than leave it live.

Email info@4jinsurance.com with the page URL and what you believe is incorrect. We review every correction report and respond.

When we correct a page: we fix the error, update the last-reviewed date, and — where the correction is material — note what changed and when at the foot of the page.

What this content is not

The material on this site is educational. It is written to help you ask better questions of whoever places your coverage — including us.

It is not:

  • a binder, quote, or confirmation that coverage exists
  • an interpretation of your specific policy
  • legal or tax advice
  • a guarantee that any particular claim will be paid

Coverage is bound or changed only through written confirmation from an authorized representative. Your own policy language controls, and it will differ from the general descriptions here.

Editorial independence

We do not receive payment for mentioning any carrier, product or vendor in our educational content. No carrier reviews or approves what we publish. Nothing on this site is sponsored.

We reach carriers through direct appointments and through our national aggregator partner, Premier Group Insurance. That partnership widens the market we can place into; it does not narrow what we are willing to say. Premier Group Insurance does not review, approve or influence the content on this site.
